85% Shiraz/15% Mataro. Naked’s Shiraz component comes from a black and red clay McLaren Vale vineyard with a high proportion of older, gnarled vines. The yields are kept low and the quality high. The Mataro comes from a light, free-draining site in the lower reaches of the Vale (in the McLaren Flat area), where the vine age is 10-30 years. All the Mataro was pressed to [neutral] oak and Shiraz to stainless (10 months). This is awash with glossy dark fruits, plenty of lively spice and hints of cocoa. Smooth and seductive.
