The village of Drumshanbo sits in the middle of nowhere. Well, its somewhere, just not in a big city. Its a rural town at the tip of Lough Allen in the northwest part of Ireland. This remote, picturesque location is where PJ Denise Rigney and his wife Denise decided to build their dream distillery The Shed. PJs specialty is brand-building and marketing but he had been working with major Spirits companies, which ignited his passion. Opened in 2014, The Shed Distillery is fitted with the finest copper still each ordered to fulfill the requirements of the signature Spirits they make.
Drumshanbo Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey is the inaugural release of their Irish Whiskey and the realization of a dream. It is also the first Irish Whiskey to come out of the region in more than one hundred years. Its triple-distilled by hand insmall batches in copper pots. The mash bill follows a very old-school tradition of using malted barley, un-malted barley, and Irish Barra oats. The Spirit is aged in a combination of ex-Bourbon and Oloroso Sherry casks and bottled at a pleasant 43% ABV.
